Officially spring tomorrow and today is fantastic, warm and sunny and first day with our iPad 2.

We set up the band early as usual this time in a room adjacent to the dining area. At the grand Royal Victoria Hotel in St Leonards on Sea.

The evening started with the formal meet and greet or in the Masonic world this means being presented to the President and his Lady (Frank and his daughter Anne).

The master of ceremony was one of the very few lady toasts masters the Scarlet coated Lady Glenda Proctor.

The Redfords like the formality of a Masonic night as the ladies dress up and the gentlemen are all in black tie. One the most nerve racking times for the lady president is the formal response to ladies toast. It is often the first time the masters partner has ever spoken in public as is expected to be light hearted!

Anne did a splendid job. we could hear ripples of laughter all the way through. The President had a few words of thanks to say and presented various people with gifts as a small token of his appreciation. We were waiting and watching in the wings with one of the hotel representatives who to her surprise was given a special presentation of flowers….. Well deserved we thought!! , as she and the hotel staff had worked so hard to help make the evening run smoothly.

After the meal and raffle the president and his lady lead the dancing with a few slow numbers but the guests were definitely up for some up tempo numbers and we were soon into full swing.

After two full sets of one hour with a 10min break the evening was at and end and we heard the usual cries of “just one more.”

We hope the President and his Lady continue have had a good year and wish the President Elect and his Lady all the best for next year..

I must say it’s an absolute pleasure writing this blog using the new iPad 2 and pages.
We must give Gary Thomas a plug who has built this fantastic spread sheet to enable us to quickly upload our pictures to wordpress using CSV Imp for eshop (a bit geeky I know but it makes life a little simpler)
