Kerry and Scott, Castle Hedingham, Essex, Wedding Band.
The Redfords Wedding band perform at Hedingham Castle in Essex.
The light and colours are beautiful this time of year. We are just seeing the last vestiges of summer through the autumn trees with orange skies as a backdrop and long wistful shadows dancing across the lake in front of the castle. The wedding took place in the castle and after the ceremony, guests were led into the very large Georgian house with oak staircases lined with the portraits of people gone by.
We of course set up early to avoid the disruption of sound checks and flight cases. All of our equipment had to be wheeled along the gravel pathway to the rear entrance behind the bar then all the cases had to be carried across the carpet so as not to leave any marks.
We took our late tea in the Wheatsheaf a quaint village pub in the heart of Castle Hedingham. We arrived back at the castle in plenty of time to go through a couple of new songs for next week.
Our changing room doubled as a nursery and the owners’ main bedroom. For us it was the height of luxury as we are used to changing in the stables or the cupboard where all the chairs and tables are stored.
From the off all the guests were ready to join in with the dance celebration which began with ‘Nine million bicycles’ by Katie Melua and continued with vigour until half way through our second set when, at the request of Kerry, we played Hava Nagila and Havenu Shalom. At this point all 150 guest were swirling around the dance floor with Kerry and Scott, in the middle, held high in the air on two chairs holding a piece of cloth between them. It was a privilege for us to be a part of this traditional Hora dance.
The evening finished on a high in a slightly different way. Normally guests are chanting More !… more! This time the phrase was.. One more tune!! one more tune!!
Cheryl the brides mother very eloquently thanked all the guest etc for attending.
Congrats Kerry and Scott
