Nick and Charlotte, Cliffe, Kent, Wedding Entertainment

Another fantastic day weather wise, we have been so lucky this year!!…. Just as well as today’s wedding relied so much on the weather being kind. The venue “Buckland Barn in Cliffe” was so close by we were able to get in the night before and help set up the stage and put up our new back drop for the first time … we had seen something similar at a wedding we did in Solva North Wales…., It looked quite effective against the timbers of the 17th century barn.

Matt and Catherine set up the acoustic duo just inside the two large barn doors so that they could project the sound both in and out side of the barn. The outside farmyard area had long been grassed over and was now a very pleasant place to sit either in the sun on in the shade of the lean-to area. There was a duck pond and stables and the farmer had strategically place many of his old farming implements around one of which Nick and Charlotte had cleverly turned into a candy sweet stall.

We were invited to the wedding breakfast with the family and sat down to a typically Italian meal with olives and cold meats to start followed by Lasagne with salad and finally lemon cheesecake all of which were excellently prepared and tasted great. As there were no catering facilities in the barn Nick and Charlotte engaged the help of Blackbird Caterers from Kent who specialise in unusual venue events where there are no facilities they come totally self-contained and we highly recommend them.

The meal and speeches complete and the top table cleared away they were ready to cut the cake, well hand out excellent cupcakes by Bonnie Shortie.

Now we were ready to start the dancing with Nick and Charlottes first dance True companion by Marc Cohn. The evening was still light and barmy so our first set was shorter than usual as it seemed a shame to waste the weather and beautiful surrounding…Oh and a free burger van and free ice cream man had just arrived outside to replace the traditional buffet … another great idea that was ideally suited to venue. I have never seen so many grown men walking, talking and mingling with a pint of beer in one hand and a 99 in the other!! The Photographer Chris had stayed to take pictures of the first dance and much of the dancing.
As the light began to fade and spirits rise we started our second set to a packed dance floor. We are always pleased to welcome guests onstage as long as they bring thier own instruments and have pre arranged with us and the bride. We were very please to have Chester sit in with us on a couple of numbers.

After a short break we began our final set which was now much longer than the others and took us to the end of the evening with cries of more!! …more!! Which is the best compliment a band can ever get.

Nick and Charlotte …Its was great for us to be a small part of your day we enjoyed ourselves immensely and wish you both health and happiness for your lives together.
